Underwatch® is an AI-centric platform that can "see the forest from the trees" for Big Data Analytics (BDA) decision support. At its inception, it hybridized Convolutional Adversarial Neural Networks (to see the trees) with Support Vector Machines (to see the forest); since that time, it has evolved greatly. The Underwatch® methodology has been peer-reviewed and successfully fielded in numerous mission-critical areas.

Terminology
On 14 September 2007, U.S. Secretary of Defense Gates provided news anchor Jim Lehrer of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) a reference to the term “overwatch” (e.g., vantage points, via satellite, aircraft, high-ground positions, etc.). The now Chief Architect of Underwatch® first coined the term "Underwatch®" on 8 April 2010 to reference vantage points that were not necessarily attributable to a positive position on the z-axis (i.e., aboveground and/or relatively higher altitude), but rather from a negative position on the z-axis (i.e. underground and/or relatively lower altitude).
Infrastructure Monitoring
More generally, Underwatch® can refer to not only underground elements (e.g., conduits, duct runs, high-voltage underground cables, manholes, power transformers, risers, transformer vaults, etc.), but also all aboveground elements of a power grid infrastructure (e.g., aboveground substations and their associated high-voltage transmission lines and/or low-voltage distribution lines, etc.), as pertains to infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, and repair.
